Sewing & Upcycling Projects

I took an interest in upcycling during the pandemic of 2020, and I started to take on more projects over the years. Come and see the progress I made.

Linen Boat-neck Blouse & Miniskirt

My first pattern drafting and sewing class I enrolled myself into. I made my very first boat neck blouse and miniskirt from scratch. We were taught how to make square and rounded necklines as well, short, long and capped sleeves for blouses. As for skirts, we learnt how to make mini, midi, and maxi skirts, both flared and fitted. For our assessment, we could choose any style of blouse and skirt, thus I made the garments mentioned in my title!

Ruched Blouse

Tried ruching for the first time! It’s a method where fabric is gathered to create a ‘scrunched’ or ‘ripple’ effect.

Star Top

I was inspired by Alvaro Barrera Lozano’s design, a Mexican designer who is the founder of ABL Estudio. I wanted to recreate this blouse from scratch.
